Stranger Things Season 5 has been tormenting fans for over two years.

Stranger Things Season 4 premiered on Netflix on May 27, 2022, and while it was the most epic season yet, with nine episodes, each of them worthy of a theatrical release given their runtime, it didn’t take long for fans to binge the series and reach the gut-wrenching finale.

Since then, we’ve all been waiting for Season 5 like there’s no tomorrow. Unfortunately, there have already been plenty of “tomorrows,” and there will be plenty more before we even get a release window for a release window for the upcoming fifth and final season.

Still, we’re closer than ever to seeing how everything will end for the likes of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo), Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer), Steve Harrington (Joe Keery), Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), and Jim Hopper (David Harbour). We’re also wondering which characters will be killed off in the final season.

The last time we saw our gang of beloved Hawkins heroes, they went toe-to-toe with the Upside Down’s “dark wizard” Vecna/One/Henry Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower) in two simultaneous battles than spanned the hellish dimension and the real world.

While the evil being lived to fight another day (both corporeally and non-corporeally), Season 5 will likely see more Hawkins residents step up to protect their hometown — and the world — from the dark supernatural forces that have, until now, resided “beneath” them.

Now, a brand-new Stranger Things Season 5 trailer has emerged from the Upside Down. But let’s be clear from the get-go — this is entirely fake. As such, it may only add to the torment of waiting for the finale, but it will still leave you feeling even more excited for the real thing.

There are already several fan-made Stranger Things Season 5 trailers, but the latest one from KH Studios (the YouTube channel responsible for recent fan-made trailers such as the Halloween TV Series, Batgirl, The Dark Knight 4, Back to the Future 4, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) feels more believable than most:

The eerie music, those foreboding chimes of the grandfather clock, and the voiceover from Henry Creel that plays over footage from the Season 4 finale “The Piggyback” is chilling.

As production on Stranger Things Season 5 is ongoing, and with no release window in sight, it’s unlikely we’ll get a real trailer anytime soon. Fortunately, while they’re now experts at keeping secrets, the Duffer brothers still like to give us morsels of information from time to time.

They’ve already confirmed the name of the first episode (“Crawl”) and have even shared a snippet of the script for the opening scene. We’ve also had plenty of behind-the-scenes photos of the cast as they reprise their roles ready for one final stand against Vecna.

So, here’s to hoping the Duffer brothers’ generosity will continue, and that we will, at the very least, get a teaser in the coming months. For now, we’ll just have to make do with all four seasons of the show on Netflix and the West End stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow (2023).

Stranger Things: The First Shadow is now playing at the Phoenix Theater. For information on tickets and showtimes, visit the official website. Check out the trailer below:
