Yet another employee of the Walt Disney Company has been arrested on federal charges of possessing child pornography, stoking fears that the iconic media brand has an issue with hiring sexual predators.

In the last several years, a number of Disney Cast Members have been arrested in connection with child pornography charges. For literally any Disney employee to be charged with possession of that sort would be a terrible blow to the famously family-friendly company, but numerous incidents of the same charge are causing some fans to worry that there might be a pervasive problem or even criminal ring within Disney.

Last December, a Disney World employee was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office. Michael David Foster, an overnight mechanic for Walt Disney World Resort and a former corrections officer with Citrus County, was found to possess a flash drive with several SD cards with more than 30 images of child pornography. His home was later found to contain more explicit and harmful child images, resulting in 32 counts of child porn possession.

In 2021, a Florida law enforcement sting operation resulted in the arrest of 17 suspects (a total of 49 felonies and two misdemeanors) who were alleged to have used the Internet to prey on young children, only to be met with undercover police officers. Three Disney World Cast Members were among this group. In June 2023, Disney Cast Member Paul Viel was arrested (as part of a group of eight men) for possession of child pornography, with Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd saying, “Why do people like Paul Viel work at Disney? Because that’s where the children are, and they want to be around children.”

This new case involves Disney Cruise Cast Member Tirso Anthony Neri, based out of Port Everglades. Per Local10, Neri is the third Disney Cruise member to be arrested on child pornography charges in South Florida, after Alvin Gonzales and Amiel Trazo.

Homeland Security Investigations and HSI and U.S. Customs and Border Protection conducted a search of two smartphones belonging to Neri, which contained “numerous sexually explicit photographs and videos of young children whose ages could not be definitively determined.” Reportedly, his collection included multiple children, including one as young as nine.

Disney Cruise Line has issued a statement saying, “In accordance with our zero-tolerance policy for this kind of alleged behavior, this individual is no longer with the company.” Tirso Neri is currently being held at Broward Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale.

While all of the above incidents may be unrelated, it is disturbing that the Walt Disney Company seems to have a continuing issue with attracting child predators and criminal rings who collect illegal, explicit material. Perhaps now that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is cracking down on predators, Disney might do the same.
