Stranger Things turned Millie Bobby Brown into one of the most famous young actors in the world, but it sounds like there’s someone other than Eleven that she would much rather be: “Mad” Max Rockatansky, the grizzled post-apocalyptic action hero.

But let’s back up here a little first. Millie Bobby Brown was 12 when she was cast as the mysterious psychokinetic child Eleven in Stranger Things, the epically popular supernatural Netflix drama created by the Duffer Brothers. While Brown had made appearances in the Once Upon a Time spinoff show Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Modern Family, and Grey’s Anatomy, her most prominent pre-Stranger Things role had been on the short-lived BBC America serial killer drama Intruders.

Stranger Things changed things in a big way, instantly turning Millie Bobby Brown and her co-stars Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp into stars. Since season 1, the show has continued to produce breakout stars like Joe Keery, Sadie Sink, Brett Gelman, and the young people’s favorite, Paul Reiser, but unquestionably, Brown has been the face of the show since the start.

Understandably, Millie Bobby Brown has seemed increasingly eager for Stranger Things to be over as the eternally delayed season 5 is in production. The actor has said of the show, “I think I’m ready. It’s been such a huge factor in part of my life, but it’s like graduating high school, it’s like senior year. You’re ready to go and blossom and flourish, and you’re grateful for the time you’ve had, but it’s time to create your own message and live your own life.”

In other words, she’s ready to move on from the role that made her famous but has also fixed her in the public’s mind as a 12-year-old version of herself with a shaved head. Now, it appears she wants to go on and become an action star, and she feels she has something of Mel Gibson’s most famous character in her.

In a recent interview with The Sun, Millie Bobby Brown revealed that she doesn’t actually like watching movies and doesn’t really have the patience to sit through one. She said, “My fiancé [Jake Bongiovi] is the biggest movie buff. He just sits and watches movies all day. And I cannot do that. That is the one thing I can’t sit down and do.”

However, it seems like she can make an exception for some action films, including the Mad Max series of films. Brown continued, saying, “But I really love Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, I love Mad Max. So I feel like I’m always channeling that inner badass.” To be clear, Max is a former police officer fighting for survival in a post-apocalyptic Australia that slowly becomes a wasteland of nightmarish feudal overlords and starvation over its series. It is such a harsh and violent world that a person can even be transformed into Tom Hardy without explanation.

So that’s how Brown sees herself, presumably. That might explain her recent choice to star in Damsel, a fantasy action movie in which she plays a princess who finds herself fighting for her life against a hungry dragon. The movie has been a huge success on Netflix, quickly becoming one of the most-watched films ever on the platform. But, given that director George Miller does not seem to be slowing down when it comes to making Mad Max movies, maybe she could try jumping over to that franchise soon, too.
