Disney Cruise Line recently announced a major update in constructing its newest ship, Disney Treasure.
Disney Treasure is one of three ships set to take maiden voyages in the coming years. If Walt Disney Imagineering completes the vessel on time, Disney Treasure is scheduled to set sail on December 21, 2024. In 2022, The Walt Disney Company purchased the unfinished “Global Dream” ship from now-defunct Dream Cruises, renaming it Disney Adventure. It will hit the high seas in Spring 2025. Another Disney original ship, Disney Destiny, will follow in Fall 2025.

Disney CEO Bob Iger promised to invest more than $60 billion in the parks and experiences division in the future, with 70% of the expansions pledged within the next decade. While Disney Parks fans would love updates at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, much of the budget is devoted to expanding Disney Cruise Line–one of Disney’s fastest-growing profit sectors.
Disney Treasure is the sister ship to the most recent addition to the magical fleet, Disney Wish, but it promises a unique guest experience. The vessel will feature the first-ever Coco (2017) theatrical dining experience, Plaza de Coco. On seven-day cruises, guests will dine with the Rivera family twice–first for a party in the plaza with Miguel’s family and later for a magical reunion with his ancestors.
Disney Treasure will also feature the Jumbeaux’s Sweets dessert shop inspired by Zootopia (2016) and two experiences based on Disney Park lore. For the first time on a Disney Cruise Line ship, guests can sip and savor at lounges inspired by the theme parks: Skipper Society (The Jungle Cruise) and Periscope Pub (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea).
There won’t be an entertainment shortage on board! Hold tight to your tube in AquaMouse: Curse of the Golden Egg, a two-person water coaster inspired by Mickey Mouse shorts. For a more relaxing experience, guests can check out the Sarabi hub for day and night entertainment inspired by The Lion King (1994).

With less than a year until Disney Treasure sets sail, Disney Cruise Line revealed that the ship hit the first of many future milestones. According to reporter Ashley Carter, the vessel was set afloat and relocated to an unknown location to allow crews to work on Disney Adventure and Disney Destiny.
“Disney Cruise Line has shared an update on the Disney Treasure. The cruise ship was set afloat for the first time a few weeks ago and moved to a new location to undergo the next phase of construction. The Disney Treasure was relocated to make room for the Disney Destiny.”
