Marvel Studios made it official during the last Super Bowl LVIII — the highly anticipated third installment of the Deadpool film series, or Deadpool 3, will now be titled Deadpool & Wolverine. Directed by Shawn Levy, who previously directed Deadpool 2, this latest Deadpool movie will become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) following The Walt Disney Company’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, which has since been rebranded as 20th Century Studios.

Ryan Reynolds Deadpool/Wade Wilson (AKA “Marvel Jesus”) teamed up with “frenemy” Hugh Jackman, who portrayed Wolverine/Logan in the Fox X-Men Universe, to originally disclose the news that the Deadpool franchise would continue — right into Disney’s MCU continuity under the watchful eye of Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

This shift from the self-contained Fox X-Men Universe into the wider MCU, currently in its “Multiverse Saga” phase, means that Marvel has to come up with a solid reason to grandfather the mutant-riddled X-Men Marvel universe during the events of the third Deadpool movie.

Now, a fan-favorite Deadpool star is speaking up about the upcoming film, and teasing fans with cameos, and likely X-Men, to come.

Deadpool & Wolverine‘s Crazy Cameos

Actor Karan Soni, who plays the character Dopinder in the Deadpool film series, is opening up about the film’s “ultra-secretive” nature,  teasing an absolutely massive cast (and cameos) for Deadpool & Wolverine AKA Deadpool 3.

Speaking to Variety, the star shared that fans will likely be “blown away” — and likely caught off guard — by what the new Deadpool & Wolverine film will include. Making a reference to their filming in London, Soni teased:

There are a lot of surprises. Let’s just say a lot of people traveled to London.

Soni adds that there’s been a bit of a change now that the new Deadpool film is set in the MCU, compared to the considerably more lax Fox movie-making world:

This new MCU version is ultra-secretive

All of this aligns with previous reports that have outlined the extensive lineup of X-Men characters rumored to make turn up in Deadpool & Wolverine. This roster includes Halle Berry reprising her role as Ororo Munroe/Storm, Famke Janssen returning as Dr. Jean Grey, James Marsden revisiting his portrayal of Scott Summers/Cyclops, and the beloved Patrick Stewart returning as the iconic Professor Charles Xavier/Professor X, alongside Ian McKellen reprising his role as Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto.

There is also potential for incorporating the younger iterations of Professor Xavier, Magneto, and Mystique from the Fox X-Men franchise, portrayed by James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence, respectively.

Additional rumors hint at the involvement of Channing Tatum and Jennifer Garner, who previously starred as Elektra in Ben Affleck’s Daredevil (2003), having filmed scenes for the new Deadpool installment. Emma Corrin is also set to portray a variant of “Professor X” — Charles Xavier’s evil twin, Cassandra Nova, from the Marvel Comics.

These revelations only scratch the surface of the anticipated cameos and roles in Deadpool & Wolverine. With speculation also swirling around Taylor Swift’s possible casting as either the Dazzler or Lady Deadpool, the merging of the X-Men and MCU cinematic realms opens up endless possibilities leading into Captain America: Brave New World, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (now reportedly no longer centered around Kang the Conqueror), and Avengers: Secret Wars.
