Anaheim Police Officers executed a tricky arrest at Downtown Disney in a video posted to social media on Thursday. Witnesses allege officers chased the adult male after security caught him shoplifting from an unknown Disneyland Resort merchandise location.

This is hardly the first law enforcement response at the Southern California Disney park in recent months. Weeks ago, the Anaheim Police Department arrested a man for driving recklessly in the parking lot near Downtown Disney. The unidentified perpetrator was charged with assault with a deadly weapon upon a peace officer, evading a peace officer in a motor vehicle, and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

The shoplifting incident also occurred in Downtown Disney. In a video posted on Reddit by u/Jozy164, a police officer uses a flashlight to direct guests around an open plaza in the shopping and dining district:

The guest filming gave police officers a water bottle the man allegedly dropped before following their instructions. As dozens of guests watched, the man lay on the ground and appeared to resist contact with the officers.

“I can’t breathe,” the man repeatedly yelled.

In response, officers tried to calm him. They seemed to be pulling items off him and throwing them, though it’s unclear if those items were the allegedly stolen merchandise.

It took multiple officers to pull the man’s hand behind his back and put him in handcuffs. The video ended as officers pulled him to his feet and searched his person.

It’s unclear what happened to the man after he was detained. In response to an e-mail from Inside the Magic, a representative for the Anaheim Police Department stated that they were looking into the Downtown Disney arrest.

Another video posted to social media this week showed Orange County Sheriff’s deputies arresting a father and daughter duo that stole nearly $1,500 in merchandise from the Oakley store at Disney Springs. The pair were banned from Walt Disney World Resort, foreshadowing the likely outcome for this unidentified man.
