Flood Collapses Disney Park Ceiling, Hits Guests Underneath

Walt Disney World Resort guests are used to a bit of rain–it storms practically every day in Central Florida for most of the year! But Disneyland Resort was unprepared this month when unprecedented storms hit sunny Southern California, leading to a devastating flood.

Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain shut down for multiple days last week amid flood advisories and evacuation warnings in Orange County. Some areas received more than an inch of rain. Disneyland Park, Downtown Disney, and Disney California Adventure Park stayed open but experienced slightly lower crowd levels than usual.

The Disney theme parks fared well through the storm, but Downtown Disney wasn’t so lucky. TikTok user @koreamae_ shared this video of cast members evacuating the World of Disney store as rainwater flooded through a compromised area of the ceiling:

Toy boxes showed apparent water damage as the water level on the floor climbed. Disney cast members pulled merchandise away to prevent further damage. Fortunately, it appears that no one was injured in this incident.

Multiple Disneyland Resort guests report that a large section of World of Disney was closed off in the days after the flood.

“I was there today and they had that section blocked off,” @phatkittykarlita wrote last week.

One guest felt unsafe in World of Disney after the flood.

“I was so loud asking ‘why are we even in here?’” @ayala_juanita said.

While some guests report that World of Disney is fully operational again, Disneyland Resort didn’t respond to Inside the Magic’s request for confirmation. Inside the Magic could not confirm the exact date of the World of Disney flood.
