The Disney parks are among one of the most popular places for someone to propose. Now, it seems like one of the most iconic proposal spots to ever hit social media has been officially banned.

According to a study by the wedding planning website Hitched, “one in every 555 proposals takes place in Magic Kingdom, and one in every 1,428 proposals takes place in EPCOT, placing them at #2 and #8 on their list of top 10 landmarks to propose.”

Proposing at Disney has become a cherished tradition for many couples, turning the magical setting of the theme parks into the backdrop for their love stories. Disney offers a variety of enchanting locations that cater to different preferences, ensuring that each proposal is unique and unforgettable.

Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom stands as an iconic and popular proposal spot. The castle’s grandeur, especially when illuminated at night, creates a fairy-tale ambience that perfectly complements the romantic moment. Whether it’s capturing the proposal in front of the castle or organizing a private event in the suite within, this location is a dream come true for many.

Another beloved spot is in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland in California. The charm of the castle, combined with the nostalgia of the park, provides a timeless setting for popping the question. Couples often choose this location for its picturesque surroundings and the emotional resonance it holds for Disney enthusiasts (AKA Disney adults).

For those who prefer a waterfront proposal, Disney’s BoardWalk offers a romantic ambience reminiscent of old-fashioned seaside resorts. With its charming architecture, twinkling lights, and scenic views, it’s a delightful location for couples looking for a more relaxed and intimate setting.

Disney also offers unique experiences for those seeking a touch of adventure in their proposals. From proposing during a character meet-and-greet to organizing a private dinner at one of the signature restaurants, there are countless ways to tailor the moment to reflect the couple’s personality and interests — including having a PhotoPass cast member present.

Overall, proposing at Disney has become a heartwarming tradition, with couples creating lasting memories in the midst of the magic that defines the theme parks. Each spot holds its own special allure, contributing to the narrative of love stories that begin within the enchanting world of Disney.

Romance has always been promoted at Disney, so much so that Disney Fairytale Weddings offer couples the opportunity to turn their special day into a fairy tale come to life. Disney provides a range of enchanting venues that cater to different preferences, ensuring that each wedding is as unique and magical as the love story it celebrates.

Cinderella Castle at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom stands as one of the most sought-after wedding venues, but there are many others.

For a touch of elegance, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa provides a picturesque setting with Victorian charm. With its stunning architecture, waterfront views, and opulent decor, this location offers an atmosphere of sophistication, making it ideal for couples seeking a classic and romantic ambience.

EPCOT’s World Showcase provides a unique and global backdrop for weddings. Couples can choose from various pavilions, each representing a different country, offering various settings for ceremonies and receptions. Whether it’s the charm of the United Kingdom or the romance of Italy, the World Showcase allows couples to transport their guests to different corners of the world.

Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings also extend beyond the theme parks to include venues like Disney’s Wedding Pavilion. Nestled along the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon, this location offers a private and serene setting for couples to exchange vows, with Cinderella Castle in the distance. Even Disney Cruise Line can hold a Disney wedding.

Moreover, Disney Fairytale Weddings provides an array of customizable experiences, from carriage rides to private dessert parties, ensuring that every detail contributes to the magical atmosphere. With professional wedding coordinators guiding couples through the planning process, Disney becomes not only a backdrop but an active participant in creating the fairy tale wedding of their dreams.

Considering getting married at Disney is a great way for the company to make some additional money, the news of Disney removing one spot for proposals may have shocked some, while others knew exactly what this has happened.

Disneyland Paris, located in Marne-la-Vallée, France, is a magical destination that brings the enchantment of Disney to European audiences. While it was not highly regarded at first, the parks are now beloved by their Euro audience.

Divided into five themed lands, Disneyland Paris is comprised of: Main Street, U.S.A., Adventureland, Fantasyland, Discoveryland, and Frontierland. From the enchanting Sleeping Beauty Castle at the heart of the park to beloved rides like Pirates of the Caribbean and Phantom Manor, there’s a diverse array of attractions to captivate guests.

Walt Disney Studios Park provides a behind-the-scenes look at the magic of Disney movies. Divided into four production zones—Front Lot, Toon Studio, Production Courtyard, and Backlot—the park offers thrilling rides and shows. Highlights include Crush’s Coaster, Ratatouille: The Adventure, and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. That being said, the park is under massive construction at the moment as World of Arendelle and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge are being added.

Additionally, Studio 1, the main entrance to the park, will be closing for one full year beginning in 2024. This closure is affecting park operations so much that Disney has even put out an official announcement telling guests that they should leave the parks for a more “economical” meal, as a lot of their quick service spots will be gone. Disneyland Paris has also just begun a widespread price hike on food options, which will make the existing spots even more costly.

While Disneyland Paris is a beautiful proposal spot, there was one proposal that went viral for going horribly wrong.

In 2022, one guest took his girlfriend on a platform in front of the castle, and got down on one knee. A cast member caught site of the guest making the gesture on a platform, which seemingly was not meant for guests, and ran up, snatched the ring, and walked off — ending the proposal abruptly.

The video had supporters on both sides of the story, with some stating that the cast member was just doing their job. Others felt like the cast member was too intense and should not have touched the ring, while others stated that they could have waited for the proposal to conclude.

Now, Disney is ensuring that never happens again.

Gijs Van Winkelhof (@GijsVWinkelhof) shared a photo of that same platform, that now has signage warning guests to not climb the stairs.

Hilariously, Scott Walker (@ScottWalker88) photoshopped the sign to what we all thought it should be, which was that no proposals are allowed to take place here.

Overall, some areas are not meant for guests, and it seems Disneyland Paris is working hard to ensure that those boundaries are made clear moving forward.

Have you ever seen a proposal at Disney?
