Splash Mountain at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort was perhaps the most controversial ride closure in Disney Parks history. Some fans cheered the end of a ride based on Song of the South (1946), a film widely banned for its racist portrayal of Black American life post-Civil War. Others felt the nostalgic attraction should remain the same, questioning its replacement’s place in Frontierland and Critter Country.

But as the late 2024 opening date for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure creeps closer, fans on social media are sharing their excitement for the Princess and the Frog (2009) themed ride. At Disneyland Park, guests are already enjoying its accompanying restaurant: Tiana’s Palace!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will take guests into Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen’s lives after the animated film. The Disney Princess now operates Tiana’s Foods, an employee-owned food cooperative expansion of her dream restaurant. Anika Noni Rose (Tiana), Bruno Campos (Naveen), Jenifer Lewis (Mama Odie), and Michael Leon Wooley (Louis the Alligator) will reprise their roles on the ride. Keith David (Dr. Facilier) isn’t expected to return.

On TikTok this week, Disney Parks fan Vic (@imthecataylst) shared a video about the Splash Mountain transformation to the tune of “Burn” by Usher:

Splash Mountain was so ugly!” @brifimusic replied. “I can’t wait for the remake!”

Some fans wanted more Princess and the Frog (2009) at Disneyland Park.

“Unpopular opinion , I know people would of [sic.] riot, but they should of turned pirates into Tiana , and the blue bayou too!!!” @queenbg05 wrote. “It just would make sense lol.”

Even former Splash Mountain fans shared their excitement.
