The Walt Disney World Resort is a spectacular place to spend a family vacation. Filled with iconic rides, legendary attractions, and dozens of places to grab a delicious snack, the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, truly is one of the most fun places you can visit. The resort is comprised of four theme parks, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios, with each one offering guests a chance to escape reality and become immersed in various lands.

These lands range from places like Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, each one coming equipped with its own “E-Ticket” attraction like Space Mountain, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and, of course, the super-popular Slinky Dog Dash.

Over the years, Walt Disney Imagineering has really set the bar high with each project, with the newest additions at the resort being some of the best rides ever. EPCOT’s newest attraction is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, which takes guests on a mission to, well, “guard the galaxy” alongside Marvel’s iconic crew of misfits. This roller coaster launches guests backward, a first for Disney World, and chooses one of six randomly selected songs, meaning there’s always a reason to ride one more time.

However, choosing where to stay is just as important as choosing what to ride, with the Walt Disney World Resort featuring over 25 distinct resort locations for guests to choose from. There are some absolutely iconic hotels to choose from, ranging from the luxurious Disney Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to budget-friendly choices like Disney’s Pop Century Resort.

No matter where you stay, you’re bound to have fun, with each hotel offering a unique theme and fantastic amenities. Other locations like Disney’s BoardWalk Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort have become some of the most popular places to stay over the years.

However, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is one of the coolest options guests have.

Nestled along 750 acres of onsite forest, accommodations here are split into two designations—Campsites where you can set up tents and recreational vehicles (RVs) and a selection of furnished Cabin dwellings. It is the only Disney Resort with both Value and Moderate accommodations onsite. Because of the campgrounds, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort actually comes in as one of the cheapest options in all of Walt Disney World.

However, this hotel will be undergoing an unexpected closure soon.

It has just been confirmed by Disney itself that Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will be closed to guests from October 26 through November 2, 2023. This closure only affects guests who have not yet booked a reservation for the hotel.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will still be open to guests who have booked reservations throughout that period. Typically, Disney allows guests to come visit the resort, but it will not be blowing this during this time.

It’s become a tradition for guests to decorate their campsites during Halloween, with an entire golf cart parade strolling through the resort each year. Halloween falls in this timeframe, meaning this closure might affect the now-iconic Fort Wilderness Halloween parade.
