Iron Man star Gwyneth Paltrow says that the Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t need her anymore, but if fans want to see her play Pepper Potts once again, they need to be proactive and call Kevin Feige.

Specifically, in a recent Instagram story, a fan asked Gwyneth Paltrow when she might be returning to Marvel, to which the GOOP founder responded, “Oh my god, stop yelling at me! We just stopped doing it because Iron Man died, and why do you need Pepper Potts without Iron Man? I don’t know, call up Marvel and yell at them, not me. I’m just sitting here.”

First off, please calm down, Gwyneth Paltrow. It doesn’t seem like anyone is getting excitable about the thought of us never seeing the CEO of Stark Industries except you.

Secondly, there are quite a few possibilities of how Pepper Potts could be involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe even after the death of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) while saving the universe in Avengers: Endgame (2019).

Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert Downey Jr’s character had a daughter in Avengers: Endgame, who was introduced as the child Morgan Stark. Given the Stark family’s history of inherited brilliance, it seems very likely that Morgan will take a lot after her super-genius father, especially as she will have the company’s near-limitless wealth behind her.

Marvel Studios seems to be not-so-covertly building a Young Avengers team in the background of various shows and movies, with new characters like Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), the new Hawkeye (Hailee Steinfeld), and Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton) all having appeared so far.

It feels very likely that the daughter of Tony Stark will be involved in the future of the MCU, so why wouldn’t her mother be around there somewhere? Heck, we would even expect Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) to show up at some point.

But, on the other hand, it is not like Gwyneth Paltrow has ever been all that committed to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite having been part of the franchise since the very first movie, Iron Man (2008), the actress has openly been pretty dismissive of the series. At one point, she infamously even claimed to have no idea which Marvel movie she had been in and if she would be in anymore.

It is unlikely that Robert Downey Jr will be showing back up as Tony Stark in the MCU (even if someone else perhaps does someday), given his tragic, heroic death and sacrifice. On the other hand, anything can happen in Secret Wars, so maybe we’ll see Gwyneth Paltrow there.
