While Hocus Pocus didn’t do well in its initial theatrical release, it soon became a fan-favorite film for Disney enthusiasts who loved Halloween. The film follows Mac Dennison (Omri Katz), Dani Dennison (Thora Birch), and Allison Watts (Vanessa Shaw) as they try to send the evil witches, the Sanderson Sisters (Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker), back to hell.

The cast is further anchored by excellent performances from Doug Jones as a zombified Billy Butcherson and Jason Marsden as the voice of Thackery Binx in cat form.

The film bubbled, toiled, and troubled for a long time until a sequel, Hocus Pocus 2, was released in 2022 and quickly became the most-watched straight-to-streaming title that year. A third movie was greenlit following that success.

Needless to say, Hocus Pocus is hotter than ever, with the performances from Midler, Najimy, and Parker serving as the most iconic portrayal of witches since Margaret Hamilton played the Wicked Witch of the West. Now, the love is sure to continue with the upcoming release of a new Hocus Pocus LEGO set.

The new Hocus Pocus LEGO set is one of the most detailed sets in recent memory. Made through the LEGO Ideas program, the set was created by 26-year-old Belgian LEGO master Amber Veyt, who has also created miniature versions of Harry Potter, Ratatouille (2007), and The Flinstones’ home in Bedrock. And apparently, this was her first version of the cottage.

In an interview with LEGO Ideas, Veyt said, “I’ve always been a huge fan of Hocus Pocus. I literally watch it every year and never get sick of it. I’ve already submitted a Hocus Pocus design, and it reached 10K as well. But I upgraded my idea and made it more playable. I added some newer techniques and thought it deserved a second chance.”

And these new techniques were worth it! Not only is there a purple flame coming out of the chimney that spins when you rotate the water wheel, but there are extra features that can transform the cottage into the Sanderson Sisters Museum.

The minifigures are also delightful, featuring all the characters mentioned earlier except Billy Butcher. The details are, once again, exquisite, with Winnifred Sanderson’s signature face and green dress and Mary Sanderson even receiving her iconic vacuum cleaner.

The set contains 2,316 pieces and is meant for adults. It will be available to order from the LEGO website on July 4, 2023, for $229.00 or £199.99 if you’re in the United Kingdom.
