Buckle up; more Star Wars may be coming soon…

May the Fourth, and to a greater extent, the month of May, has been a great opportunity for Disney and Lucasfilm to celebrate all things Star Wars. New products and experiences at Disney Parks, new offerings as part of gaming and entertainment, and of course, new content like series, shows, and releases, but if this new report is true, it’s an extremely quick turnaround.

With as divided as the Star Wars fanbase can be, it’s definitely safer and has been the general practice of Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm to wait to see how a show is received. Even with immensely popular shows like The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm waited to see how it would be received before another season was in the works.

This has also been the case with series like Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett, both of which have been rumored to have a second season but have yet to announce anything official, likely due to the lukewarm reception that each series received. Still, many fans hope that they will see more of these beloved characters in adventures in that Galaxy Far, Far Away.

For those series, fans may have to wait, but for other content, the wait may not be that long after all. The second season of Star Wars: Visions just dropped yesterday on Disney+ and was an amazing offering. Expanding on the first season, which, while it was a handful of different studios, was all anime, the second season represented a celebration of Star Wars from around the globe.

Each episode of the second season was a celebration of heritage and art from around the world, bringing together many different styles of animation from many different corners of the globe. It was clear through each minute of each episode the care and attention paid by each studio to making something beautiful, and that may well be the reason for this reported development.

The Direct reported on comments made by industry insider Jeff Sneider, in which he stated that a third season of Visions was already in development at Lucasfilm but also clarified that, at this point, it was nothing more than a rumor. This certainly wouldn’t be out of the question, as the first season met with success, and the second is already performing well.
