Amid a recent Disney collection’s severe criticism, a fan has come to its defense, saying, “it’s not ugly, it’s just different.”
With so many beloved attractions inspiring new merchandise that flies off the shelves at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, it is hard to believe that some of the latest collections have not been well received by some Guests, especially considering that some of the most criticized items are part of the new Haunted Mansion collection.
Despite the severe criticism this collection has received, a fan recently came forward, defending the new items saying the collection is really cute in her opinion.
Emily Anastasia (@emilyupinspace) recently posted a video on TikTok talking about her experience as a former Haunted Mansion Cast Member and explaining why this new collection is perfect for many fans of the classic Disney attraction.
Emily comments that, despite her love for the attraction, she didn’t really enjoy her time working at The Haunted Mansion because she is “too happy, preppy, princessy, and pink to fit into that aesthetic,” and adds that she understands why this new collection is receiving so much hate as it doesn’t translate to the typical dark colored aesthetic of the attraction, but instead uses a lot of pastel tones which make it “kind of princessy.”
However, she adds that she loves this collection because it allows Guests to show their love for the attraction even as “someone who doesn’t fit in with The Haunted Mansion aesthetic,” letting them be “a girly ghoul,” as Emily describes it.
She also adds that Sally Slater, The Tightrope Walker from the stretching room at The Haunted Mansion, would surely love this collection as well, as she is the perfect embodiment of this “girly ghoul” aesthetic, and that she doesn’t understand why she is not featured in this collection because her aesthetic, combined with the regular Haunted Mansion aesthetic would be perfect for this merchandise collection.
Emily says that, again, she understands why people don’t like this collection, but it doesn’t deserve all the hate and criticism it has received. She mentions a woven shirt with two patterns that is not the best but adds that overall, “it’s not ugly, it’s just different.”
What do you guys think about this collection?! As someone who is extremely into the paranormal and ghots and spirits and has a Ouija board for decoration, I LOVE the haunted mansion . Buuut i’m not typically a dark closed kind of person so I like this merch drop! #disney#disneyworld#waltdisneyworld#castmember#disneycm#castmemberlife#castmemberstories#disneycastmember#disneycastlife#spacemountain#magickingdom#hauntedmansion

More on Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World Resort
An opening day attraction at Walt Disney World Resort, The Haunted Mansion has taken Guests into the boundless realm of the supernatural in a slightly longer and more elaborate way than its California counterpart, featuring a Library stocked with “ghost stories” and staring marble busts of great ghost writers, a Music Room where the shadow of the invisible pianist can be seen in the floor, and an Endless Staircase inspired by M. C. Escher’s “Relativity.”

A musical crypt, a leaky tomb and a ghostly writer are among the creepy haunts you’ll find outside the main entrance. Explore supernatural hands-on experiences—only at Walt Disney World Resort—while you await your fate inside.
Too Scary?
