Marvel fans are getting antsy as they wait for news of when the X-Men will finally show up in Marvel’s Phase Four or later. Since Disney bought 20th Century Fox, they want to know how Marvel Studios will work the mutants in with the Avengers, which of Professor Xavier’s X-Men will show up and how they will appear. And Marvel Comics has given the Marvel Cinematic Universe a new set of costumes to choose from.
Marvel Comics recently gave fans the chance to pick the newest member of the X-Men team. Last year Scarlet Witch’s sister Polaris won the first X-Men vote, and the nominees she defeated currently comprise the Secret X-Men squad: Sunspot, Cannonball, Marrow, Boom-Boom, Tempo, Forge, Banshee, Strong Guy, and Armor.
In an upcoming one-shot, the Secret X-Men will embark on a secret mission to outer space for Professor X’s daughter, the Shi’ar Imperial Majestrix Xandra Neramani. Xandra was created from genetic materials following the deaths of Professor X and her mother, Majestrix Lilandra.
The story is coming on February 9th, from Excalibur and X of Swords writer Tini Howard and Daredevil artist Francesco Mobili. And they will sport a brand new look for their new mission.
Writer Tini Howard told Marvel she was more than excited to jump onto the new story.
“We had to do it, yeah? And I jumped at the chance to tell the story while I had the time. Cannonball was my vote, and Strong Guy? Tempo? Boom-Boom? This is the perfect team for an intergalactic X-Men mission. I hope they didn’t forget anything important!”
None of the prominent X-Men from Fox’s X-Men franchise like Logan/ Wolverine, Jean Grey, or Scott Summers/Cyclops will be donning the new yellow and black outfits as they are currently busy with their own problems on Krakoa. Scott Summer was recently revealed to be Captain Krakoa, and they will be facing a brand new threat that will bring the mutate Wade Wilson/Deadpool to their aid.
However, Kevin Feige will have plenty of costumes to choose from for when they adapt the X-Men comics into live-action. Hopefully, while avoiding the Dark Phoenix story for the third time in a decade. And fans are still holding hope of seeing Hugh Jackman again as Wolverine.
