Today would have been Walt’s 120th birthday and the Walt Disney Company, as well as all of the Disney Parks, are showing remembrance and gratitude to this historic figure.
Born on December 5, 1901, Walter Elias Disney was always full of ambition, drive, and a passion to entertain Guests. As Walt famously stated, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible” and the Walt Disney Company has really embraced this sentiment. Whether it be the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge expansion to Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park, all of the amazing animated movies such as Walt Disney Animation Studios’ newest film Encanto, or the upcoming brand-new vision of possibly Walt’s favorite project, EPCOT, and its exciting transformation that is currently taking place, the Walt Disney Company has taken this message to heart.
Walt got his start as an illustrator when he was only five years old after his neighbor commissioned him for a drawing of a horse. Did you also know that Walt actually voiced Mickey Mouse himself in over 100 cartoons and shorts? Talk about multitasking!

With this year being Walt Disney World’s 50th-Anniversary, this birthday for Walt feels extra special. If only he could have seen just exactly how Walt Disney World in Orlando would change, evolve, and blossom into what it has become today. As Walt is probably most famous for saying, “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world”, and it’s amazing to see the Parks, as well as the Walt Disney Company in general, keeping this same mentality as they continue to grow and improve.
