Universal Orlando Resort Guests are currently ringing in the holidays with celebrations galore.
The Parks are opened later– and the hours only expand as the month progresses– and there are massive crowds making their way into Universal’s City Walk, Universal Studios, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, and Universal’s Volcano Bay.
However, fans of the Parks who were planning a vacation after the holidays in early 2022 may be disappointed to find out that three popular attractions– all in Universal’s Islands of Adventure– won’t be available to enjoy.
Jurassic Park River Adventure, Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls, and Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges will all be temporarily closed in early 2022, according to Universal Orlando.
Jurassic Park River Adventure will be closed from January 10 until January 28, Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls will be closed from January 31 to February 25, and Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges will be closed from February 25 to March 18. The Caro-Suess-el and Poseidon’s Fury, which both have been closed for a while, still have an indefinite timetable for a return.
Universal is strategically making the refurbishments and handling maintenance on these three water rides in the winter when they are at their least popular.
There have been rumors of Jurassic Park River Adventure being transformed into Jurassic World: The Ride, as was done at Universal Hollywood, but the short closure of just three weeks shows major changes aren’t likely to happen. It should be noted that Jurassic Park River Adventure temporarily closed for a short period in January 2022, as well.
Once Jurassic Park River Adventure reopens, Universal will turn its attention to refurbishments on Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls and then followed by Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges. Both attractions, located in Toon Lagoon, are summer fan favorites but certainly still have their place even in the winter for many Parkgoers.
Universal Orlando also previously announced a lengthy temporary closure for Revenge of the Mummy in Universal Studios. The attraction will be beginning January 7 through late summer 2022.
