All the reservations for January 2022 for Disneyland Park’s Oga’s Cantina for early 2022 were canceled without notice, and Disneyland Resort fans are upset. Some upcoming Guests were able to correct the possible computer glitch (or reset), but many remained without their preferred Disney Dining reservation.
The Star Wars-related news broke on Twitter today when a reporter and Disney fanatic, Brooke Geiger McDonald, mentioned the issue. It appears that all Oga’s Cantina reservations at the Disneyland Resort from January 1- February 6, 2022, have been canceled by Disney.
Brooke mentions in her Twitter feed that she lost at least two reservations during her upcoming trip but was able to snag at least one replacement. Her tweet, embedded below, says,
Oga’s Cantina reservations at Disneyland from Jan. 1-Feb. 6, 2022 were automatically canceled and guests have been receiving notification of cancellation by email. Reservations during that period are now available to book again online.Â
New capacity restrictions being imposed. They figured the only fair thing to do was cancel everyone and have them rebook rather than pick and choose who cancels and gets to keep their reservation.
These Disney Dining reservations were canceled by Disney automatically, with only an email notifying the Guest of the change. However, the Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge bar and lounge does not appear to be closed for any reason, as the same reservation period is open again and accepting reservations for the Mos Eisley Cantina look-alike.
An insightful reply to Brooke by Patrick, a self-professed really bad egg, thinks that the mass cancellation may be capacity restriction-based. A wide and complete cancellation block is a fair way to allow everyone to rebook rather than to pick and choose who is allowed to cancel and who gets to keep their reservation booking.
Oga’s Cantina is billed by Disney as a unique watering hole with plenty of personality. Ask for the secret menu and try the Blue Bantha Milk! The Disneyland Resort website mentions,
Thirsty for a Taste of Adventure?: Welcome to the local cantina, where bounty hunters, smugglers, rogue traders and weary travelers of all ages come together to refuel, enjoy music and conduct meetings-no questions asked. With an expansive menu of exotic concoctions for young ones and adults, the cantina is a welcome rest stop before your crew’s upcoming galactic journey.
As you plan your next smuggling run, please enjoy some bold musical entertainment courtesy of droid DJ R-3X, a former Starspeeder 3000 pilot. The [Star Wars Land] cantina adheres to proprietor Oga Garra’s strict code of conduct, but patrons can be… unpredictable, so just keep your head down-and drink casual. For those who have long dreamed of visiting one of the galaxy’s infamous watering holes, Oga’s Cantina brings that dream to life.
Explore a Galaxy of Unusual Offerings: Oga’s specializes in fantastical drinks sourced with ingredients from across the galaxy that will delight even the youngest crew members. To order selections with alcohol-like the Jedi Mind Trick cocktail, Bad Motivator IPA or Toniray wine-they will need to see your photo identification.
