The new Magic Happens parade officially made its debut early last year on February 28, 2020 at Disneyland Park. This was the first daytime parade at Disneyland in over a decade, so it’s obvious as to why Disneyland Guests were so excited to see this come to life. Unfortunately, just weeks after Magic Happens debuted, the Parks had to temporarily shut down due to the ongoing pandemic.

When Disneyland finally reopened in April 2021, some amenities — including FASTPASS, Disney MaxPass, Magic Mornings, and Extra Magic Hour offerings — were suspended as part of the phased reopening efforts amid the pandemic. Also suspended were parades and other select entertainment offerings — including Magic Happens.

Disney has remained silent in regards to when (or if) Magic Happens would return to Disneyland Park — until now.

Reporter Scott Gustin took to Twitter to share what Disney had recently said about the fate of Magic Happens — specifically if it would ever return to Disneyland. Here’s what Disney had to say, per Gustin:

Also… I asked about Magic Happens. Disneyland said it may return at a later time as part of the phased reopening.

What’s interesting is Disney told Scott Gustin that Magic Happens “may” return at a later time, indicating we may have already seen the last of this fan-favorite parade. Many would be sad to see Magic Happens never return to Disneyland Park as it only had a few weeks to run prior to the temporary Park closures, which took place in March 2020.

Disneyland describes Magic Happens as:

Disneyland Park welcomes “Magic Happens”, the park’s first new daytime parade in nearly a decade—and an unforgettable spectacle that reminds us wings aren’t needed to fly, shooting stars were created for wishes and magic doesn’t end at midnight!

With a wave of his wand, Mickey Mouse leads a cavalcade of fabulous floats, whimsically costumed performers and popular Disney pals like Anna, Elsa and Olaf around the park and into your hearts—all while moving to a high-energy musical score that puts a contemporary spin on classic Disney hits. In addition, a brand-new song co-composed by singer-songwriter Todrick Hall helps bring some of your favorite Disney tales to life like never before.

The parade features several distinct “stories,” with a delightful mix of characters. Watch Moana ride the crest of a beautiful wave in her voyager canoe, followed by Coco’s guitar-strumming Miguel, who’s joined by his dog Danté and other fantastical spirit animals.

Behold the enchanted forest from Frozen 2, as Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff and Sven pass by. Then prepare for the grandest finale of all as the parade commemorates memorable story moments from Sleeping Beauty and other Disney classics. It’s an incredible procession not to be missed!
