During the Destination D23 event, Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, covered the topic of the new Resort experience coming to Disney World. Star Wars hotel is a first-of-its-kind, two-night immersive experience. Instead of watching a Star Wars story unfold on the screen, you’ll be experiencing the journey firsthand onboard the Halcyon starcruiser. The journey to a galaxy far, far away begins on March 1, 2022. Who will be among the first Guests onboard for the Star Wars adventure? Make-A-Wish families!
Not only did Josh D’Amaro provide a special sneak peek of lightsaber training in Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience, it was also announced Walt Disney World Resort will welcome Make-A-Wish children and their families as some of the very first Guests to experience a Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser voyage.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has been around since 1980. The program helps fulfill the wishes of children (AKA “Wish Kids”) with a critical illness. Disney has been a strong supporter of Make-A-Wish as you can imagine how many children and families wish for trips to Disney Theme Parks and beyond. Well, it sounds like Star Wars fans will be able to enjoy the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel first hand.
Make-A-Wish has said, “Disney is the largest wish granter in the world, having fulfilled more than 140,000 wishes globally, and one out of every two wishes granted by Make-A-Wish in the United States.”
Way to go Disney! We LOVE everything about this!
