Hold the phone! No really… hold your phone… because Disney has made an update that once again includes the use of a smartphone.
When visiting Walt Disney World Resort you’ll want to be sure to have the My Disney Experience (MDE) app downloaded and ready to roll. Park maps, wait times, dining reservations, the key to your Resort room, and much more… the MDE app is really your key to the kingdom.
The most recent update to the My Disney Experience app has included the controversial addition of Disney Genie, Disney Genie+, and Lightning Lane. Now, with recent reports showing Disney Guest spending is on the climb, it doesn’t surprise us that Disney’s latest update to MagicMobile service makes spending for Disney World Guests easier.
The Disney MagicMobile service, located within the My Disney Experience app, is Disney’s contactless way to access MagicBand features without having to purchase and/or wear a MagicBand. You can use MagicMobile to enter the Theme Parks, connect to Disney PhotoPass images, and enter attractions through the virtual queue or Lightning Lane entrance when your time has arrived. Plus, don’t forget that during Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, Guests can create a Disney MagicMobile pass with new designs to choose from including a few that feature the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection.
Now, Disney’s MagicMobile service is expanding. Disney Parks Blog has announced Guests can now use MagicMobile to charge food and merchandise purchases to the payment card on file at your Disney Resort hotel room during your stay. Much like tapping your MagicBand to pay for food and merchandise, you can now pay with the Disney MagicMobile service right in your app when using an eligible iPhone, Apple Watch or Google Pay enabled Android phone.
The need/use of a MagicBand truly dwindles with this addition to the mobile device app. Of course, don’t worry, Disney isn’t letting the fun designs of the MagicBands go anytime soon! It wasn’t too long ago that Disney announced the new MagicBand+ will be coming in 2022 to Walt Disney World which will provide an interactive experience for Guests.
Do you enjoy having your smart device be your one-stop-shop for a Disney vacation or do you prefer to use a MagicBand?
