In late August, Disneyland once again began selling Annual Passes — now called Magic Keys — after ending the old Annual Pass Program in January 2021. As a way to thank those who purchased Magic Keys within the first 66 days of their launch — to honor Disneyland’s 66th birthday — Disney announced a number of perks new Magic Key Holders would be able to experience.

One of those perks was the Magic Key Launch Experience which was located at the Starcade in Tomorrowland. The Magic Key Launch Experience allows Magic Key Holders to relax in an air-conditioned space. There are couches and a ton of phone chargers, along with a number of photo spots. There are even stands set up, so visitors can take the perfect selfie.

Since it is Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort, the photo spots were themed after iconic Disney Halloween moments. Guests could take pictures in front of a massive drawing of the gingerbread house that is found inside Haunted Mansion Holiday. There is also a spot where Gonzo and Pepe strike their best Hitchhiking Ghost pose to get Guests excited for Muppets Haunted Mansion.

Magic Key Holders not only have those amazing photo spots at the Magic Key Launch Experience, but they also have other special photo ops available to them throughout Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. Over by Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, Magic Key Holders can get a special Mr. Toad Magic Shot, and over in DCA, Guests attending Oogie Boogie Bash have access to a Hocus Pocus photo op.

Also at Disney California Adventure, Magic Key Holders and their Guests have access to the exclusive dining spot — Magic Key Terrace — which was formerly the Alfresco Tasting Terrace. Reservations are not required for Magic Key Terrace but are highly recommended since spots are not guaranteed at this popular spot that opened up in August.

In addition to specialty photos, Guests who purchase Magic Keys within the first 66 days of the program will also receive a welcome package with an exclusive commemorative pin and magnet to celebrate their new pass.

The 66-day of the Magic Key Program will be on October 30 and that will mark the end of most Magic Key extras, including the closing of the launch experience and the ending of Magic Shots. Magic Key Terrace will remain available only to Magic Key Holders for the foreseeable future. Before the theme parks shut down, Alfresco Tasting Terrace had been open to only Annual Passholders, so Disney is continuing with that perk.

If you have not purchased your Magic Key yet, you can do so by visiting the Disneyland Resort website, and you will immediately be able to take advantage of all the great perks! The Magic key Launch experience is open daily from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. It should also be noted that if the Launch Experience is over-crowded, Guests will be given a return time when they arrive at the Starcade.
