Disney took to Instagram to share the announcement of Timon and Pumbaa being the third statue for Disney World’s 50th, writing:
Don Hahn, producer of Walt @DisneyAnimation Studios’ The Lion King, has revealed that Timon & Pumbaa are part of the “Disney Fab 50 Character Collection” that you’ll soon find across the four @WaltDisneyWorld theme parks during “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” starting Oct 1 #DisneyWorld50

Timon and Pumbaa are iconic sidekicks from the 1994 Walt Disney Animation Studios film, The Lion King, which Disney also remade in live-action/CGI in 2019. If you have never seen the 2019 version, Disney describes it as:
Disney’s film journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. The all-star cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon, and utilizes pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring treasured characters to life in a whole new way.

These 50 golden character statues will honor those who have shaped Disney for us in one way or another, and now we know Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Timon and Pumbaa will all be on display to commemorate this milestone. We cannot wait to see who else is added to this incredible lineup so far!
