Now that Disney’s Jungle Cruise film is about to premiere, many Disney fans who have patiently waited for around a year now cannot wait to see the attraction we all know and love from the Disney Parks come to life in the live-action movie!

The film will star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt, among others — however, it seems that casting may not have always gone this way. When Johnson was cast in the film as Skipper Frank, hiring Blunt to play Lily was the next move, but the actresses did not immediately agree to take on the role.

During the Jungle Cruise press conference, the actors shared the story of how Dwayne actually convinced Emily to star in the film. Since she had yet to say yes to the role, Dwayne sent Blunt a 25-minute video (the length of the video was heavily debated by the co-stars) on why she needed to agree to the role as the director Jaume Collet-Serra flew to New York to hand-deliver the script.

Dwayne made a joke about Blunt “ghosting” him since she didn’t respond immediately, but in the end, Blunt noted how she was very touched by the video, and, of course, said yes!

When the two were retelling the story of how Blunt’s role came to be, Dwayne discussed how he gave the director his video for Emily as Jaume was on his way to New York to deliver the script in person. Johnson said, “‘Listen, I’m gonna send you a video, and just give her the video from me.’ So I gave her this video. Maybe a minute, two minutes”. Emily quickly interjected that it was more like a 25-minute video. In the video, Johnson told the actress, “you are the only one who can do this movie.” From this, Blunt was touched and went out to meet Johnson, and the two instantly had “had this rapport that ping-ponged back and forth so quickly”, according to Blunt.

Surprisingly enough, the video of WWE star Dwayne Johnson convincing Emily Blunt to do the project still exists! Plus, this Blunt is no stranger to Disney, having recently played Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins Returns, so many fans are excited to see her return to the big screen once again.

Would you say yes to being cast in Disney’s Jungle Cruise if you had the option?
