Universal Orlando Resort is a premier vacation destination. The Resort is home to two theme parks, Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. In addition to the theme parks, Universal Orlando Resort is also home to Volcano Bay, a thrilling water park in the Orlando area.
Between the two theme parks and Volcano Bay, it is important for Universal to periodically close attractions to perform maintenance. Here are the attractions that will not be open in June 2021 as they are closed for refurbishment. We hope this information helps you better plan your vacation!
Universal Studios Florida
Let’s start at the first Universal theme park in the Orlando area, Universal Studios Florida. Since we checked in last month, fewer attractions are closed in June compared to May! This is great news if you are planning a trip to Universal Studios Florida. Here is what will be closed for refurbishment in June 2021.

While some attractions are unavailable this month, there is a new attraction you should be aware of when you visit Universal Studios Florida. DreamWorks Destination recently opened in the KidZone area of Universal Studios Florida. This is an interactive experience that brings you and your family up close with all of your favorite DreamWorks characters. Be sure and check it out during your vacation!
Islands of Adventure
Universal’s Islands of Adventure is welcoming a brand new attraction this month! On June 10, the VelociCoaster will officially open to Guests. While that is something to look forward to this month, here are the attractions that will not be available in June.
- Jurassic Park Discovery Center
- Me Ship, The Olive
- Poseidon’s Fury
- Storm Force Accelatron
On the official Universal website, there is currently nothing scheduled to undergo a refurbishment at Volcano Bay in June. However, attractions may become unavailable later on, so be sure and check your Universal app when you visit for day-to-day information.
In addition to the changes in attractions that will be opening or going down for refurbishment, there have recently been some changes to the health and safety guidelines at Universal you should know about.
Universal Orlando Resort has updated its face mask policy so that fully vaccinated Guests no longer need to wear masks when they visit the resort. you can read more about that update here.
