Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park is a tropical oasis at Walt Disney World Resort, featuring waterslides, a surf pool, a lazy river, and more. However, as many of you know, due to the ongoing pandemic, the water park has remained closed to Guests. Only Blizzard Beach has been operating as part of Disney World’s phased reopening process.
The good news is that it appears Disney may be thinking about reopening the water park to Guests in the near future as several permits have been filed. Though Disney has not yet announced a reopening date for Typhoon Lagoon, it looks like some construction work will be done at the water park.
Walt Disney World recently reopened their one water park — Disney’s Blizzard Beach — to Guests after being temporarily closed due to the ongoing pandemic. However, Guests have been anxiously awaiting to see what Disney will do with their second water park.
One permit filed, which is for general construction, is for the location of the kiddie restrooms. The second general construction permit filed is for the location of the ever-popular attraction, Crush ‘N’ Gusher. And lastly, Disney filed a permit for general construction of the Storm Slides attraction.
These permits could have been filed so that Disney can ensure the water park is in its best condition for when they do reopen to Guests. As you can imagine, since the water park has been closed for over a year due to the ongoing pandemic, general construction may be needed to ensure the rides, dining locations, and other areas are safe for Guests and Cast Members.
At this time, as a result of Disney’s modified operations amid the ongoing pandemic, Typhoon Lagoon remains closed. However, Inside the Magic will keep you updated as we get information. In the meantime, you can visit Disney World’s other water park, Disney’s Blizzard Beach.
