Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park is a tropical oasis at Walt Disney World Resort, featuring waterslides, a surf pool, a lazy river, and more. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, the water park remains closed to Guests.
But, as Disney World continues its phased reopening, could we see Typhoon Lagoon reopen to Guests in the near future?
Walt Disney World recently reopened Disney’s Blizzard Beach to Guests after being temporarily closed due to the ongoing pandemic, but what about their second water park? Well, it’s possible that Disney could be thinking about reopening Typhoon Lagoon in the near future, although nothing has been confirmed.
A new permit, which you can view here, is for the location of 1140 E Buena Vista Dr. (the same address as Typhoon Tilly’s Restaurant) and it is to provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction. Though there is not much other information regarding this permit, Disney could have filed it in order to prepare for Typhoon Tilly’s to reopen to Guests.
We know Walt Disney World is continuing its phased reopening as the theme parks have recently made several changes to the safety protocols. Some of those changes include eliminating temperature checks, no longer requiring Guests to wear face masks outdoors, and reducing social distancing. Reopening Typhoon Lagoon could be another step in Disney’s phased reopening to Guests.
At this time, due to the ongoing pandemic, Typhoon Lagoon remains closed. However, Inside the Magic will keep you updated as we get information.
