Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Continues to Look Abandoned

Disney has had a tough year navigating thr0ugh the pandemic, and although there have been many huge steps in the direction of normalcy, there is still a lot left for Disney to do in terms of having the entire theme park return to a pre-pandemic state.

At the moment, there is little to no entertainment in the theme parks, meet and greets are still character interactions from afar, Resorts such as Disney’s All-Star Music and Sports, as well as Disney’s Port Orleans continues to remain closed, but the biggest closure of all continues to be Typhoon Lagoon.

Now that Disney has reopened Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Blizzard Beach, many Guests were wondering if Typhoon Lagoon, Disney’s other water theme park, would be opening soon. Considering capacity continues to increase, and mask mandates are gone for those who are fully vaccinated, opening Typhoon Lagoon would seem like the next step, but that is not likely to happen for quite some time.

Bioreconstruct (@bioreconstruct) just posted a photo of an aerial shot of Typhoon Lagoon, and with the pool drained, the water park looks a lot more like the abandoned River Country than a fun place to take a dip.

Although Disney has not given Guests an opening date for Typhoon Lagoon, considering the theme park destination is entering peak season and its hottest season and the pool remains drained likely means that we will not see a reopened Typhoon Lagoon until 2022. That being said, that is solely my prediction on the matter.

On the Walt Disney World website, Disney notes:

As a reminder, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park remains closed at this time. However, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is now open!
