The Wave, located in Disney’s Contemporary Resort is going to be closed this summer as the restaurant undergoes major refurbishments ahead of the 50th anniversary.
What could this mean for your vacation if you were planning to dine at The Wave? Here is everything you need to know about this refurbishment!
The Wave Refurbishment
You may have heard that Disney’s Contemporary Resort is undergoing some changes as the hotel is being refreshed. Now it appears that The Wave is included in those refurbishments.
The Wave will be closed starting July 16 as Disney has stated reservation will be taken through July 15. There is currently no word on when it will reopen, but Inside the Magic will update you as we get information.

The Wave… of American Flavors at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be unavailable this summer as we refurbish this space in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort. Reservations will be available through July 15.

Surround yourself in casual elegance at this feel-good eatery. Dine on new American cuisine inspired by a passion for locally and regionally sourced ingredients, accompanied by new world wines and tasty craft beers. Start your day with a classic a la carte American breakfast such as eggs Benedict or dive into our signature sweet potato pancakes served with pecan-honey butter and a side of sausage or bacon.
At lunch, opt for robust sandwiches, our signature burgers or an assortment of fresh salads. Dinner offers such distinctive dishes as grilled beef tenderloin and seared potato gnocchi. Then cap off your meal with crème brûlée and a divine dessert selection.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Disney has announced that the refurbishment of the Contemporary will begin in April, since it is now May we know that work is underway!
We know that the rooms will be updated, but Disney said that most of the Guest areas will be available during the refurbishments, now we know that The Wave will be unavailable for an undisclosed amount of time.
There has been no concept art released for the changes coming to the rooms as of yet, but fans have speculated that Pixar’s The Incredibles will be added to the hotel. However, Disney has yet to confirm that speculation.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort is a Magic Kingdom Resort hotel located just steps away from the park. The Disney World monorail passes right through the Resort which gives the hotel a very modern feel.
There is another beloved dining experience that can be found at the Contemporary, so do not fret about the refurbishment at The Wave!
Chef Mickey’s is a character dining experience that serves up loads of Mickey Waffles and smiles. Today, we learned that Chef Mickey’s will be hosting dinner once again, and although the buffet offering is suspended there will still be plenty of food and characters to entertain you.
