The Walt Disney World Resort has been operating under a phased reopening after the temporary closures due to the global pandemic. However, Guests of the Resort were missing some of their dining favorites, especially those that offer character experiences.
Well, now we have some great news! Cape May Café at Disney’s Beach Club Resort will be reopening on May 18! Although this is an excellent move and one step closer to fully reopening at Walt Disney World, it comes with some unfortunate news as well.

Disney Parks Blog announced that the dining location will be reopening, but with some major modifications including not hosting Minnie’s Beach Bash Character Breakfast or the Seafood-and-Moore Dinner Buffet:
Guests returning to Cape May Café will find old favorites and new changes, along with its signature service and quality. The restaurant will serve breakfast and dinner, but Minnie’s Beach Bash Character Breakfast and the Seafood-and-More Dinner Buffet will not return at reopening.
That’s not to say there aren’t plenty of treats in store! The all-you-care-to enjoy family-style breakfast menu will feature popular staples like pastries (including the layered crispy, cream-filled “Lobster Tail”), omelets, and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse waffles. Highlights from dinner will include house-made Parker House rolls and corn bread, a seafood boil with a variety of fresh seafood, The Turf Platter with steak and chicken, and – my personal favorite – lobster mac and cheese.

Navigating how to enhance character meal experiences that are both magical and safely distanced can be a bit challenging, yet not impossible. Other dining locations throughout Walt Disney World still offer character dining, but it has been modified to ensure the safety of Guests and Cast Members.
Cape May Cafe’s Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast dining experience will be temporarily unavailable, so we hope when it is safe enough to do so, they can bring this fun character dining offering back.
