Disney’s Contemporary Resort is getting a refresh! If you are planning to stay at the Contemporary in the future, don’t worry –you can still stay at the resort while it undergoes some serious changes. Here is what you need to know about the changes taking place around Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Disney announced that rooms at their Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World will be undergoing a refresh starting in April but, did not provide any details or concept art for what the new rooms may look like. The Contemporary Resort is adjacent to Magic Kingdom which offers views of Cinderella Castle, and includes Chef Mickey’s restaurant which hosts character dining.
Now we have more details from Disney to ensure Guests that while the changes are underway, there will still be some rooms available in the main building:
Starting in April 2021, Disney’s Contemporary Resort will begin a refurbishment to reimagine Guest rooms. While some Main Tower rooms will be unavailable during the refurbishment, most resort areas and amenities will still be available for Guests to enjoy.

In the above statement from Disney, they indicate that most Guest areas and amenities will remain available with the Contemporary undergoes this refresh. It is unclear at this time what areas will not be available, and if the unavailable areas will also be getting a refresh.
We also reported that the pool at Bay Lake Tower, the DVC (Disney Vacation Club) tower that is connected to the Contemporary Resort is undergoing a refurbishment as well:
The Bay Cove Pool water play area at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is scheduled for refurbishment and will be temporarily unavailable from January 6, 2021 through early February 2021. During this time, Guests may enjoy the pool at Bay Lake Tower, as well as the feature pool, leisure pool and interactive water feature at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

We hope as April draws closer that we will see concept art for the room refurbishments coming to the Contemporary Resort! The Contemporary is one of our favorite Disney resorts for its relaxed atmosphere and proximity to Magic Kingdom.
