We all can agree that Disney vacations can be one of the best experiences of our lives and leave us with many memories. With so many Disney attractions to choose from, a day at a Disney Park can be thrilling and even sometimes unexpected. As we know, many attractions may experience downtime and break down even when we are in the middle of all the Disney magic and may cause us to abandon ship.

One Disney fan and TikTok user caught on camera a special memory of riding Splash Mountain just before the pandemic. She experienced something a bit different and allegedly got “lost” when attempting to evacuate the ride.

Getting lost inside Splash Mountain

Helana Mulvey on TikTok was excited about her upcoming trip to Walt Disney World. While thinking about her future trip, it sparked a memory and unbelievable time in Disneyland in 2019 that she just had to share with her followers. Helana and her sister were about to enjoy a Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah day aboard Splash Mountain. The two boarded the log flume and were on their way through the ride, when suddenly, it broke down and a Cast Member instructed them to get off.

For many Disney Guests who have been through this evacuation process, we know that Cast Members will ensure that the Guests follow instructions and safely exit the ride in a timely fashion. However, Helana and her sister say they experienced something a bit different:

“I’m going to Disney World tomorrow and my sister and I were just talking about this story today, we went to Disneyland in 2019, and we got lost inside of Splash Mountain. The ride broke down, the Cast Member came over, she was like everybody get up and go to the right, and there was no further instructions. We ended up at the top of Splash Mountain and all the people down below were like looking up at us and then we somehow ended up under the ride, 10 out of 10 recommended.”

Check out this unbelievable scene inside Splash Mountain where she shares her full experience and even shows us what Splash Mountain’s attraction looks like underneath it all.

One good thing to remember is that if you are ever stuck on an attraction and Cast Members are in the process of evacuating Guests, it is important to note that you should always follow the Cast Members’ instructions when evacuating attractions and be aware of your surroundings so that you can remain safe as you exit the ride.

Disney’s evacuation process

As Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort operate during the ongoing pandemic, many guidelines have been set in keeping Disney Guests safe. We recently shared another ride breakdown video on Spaceship Earth in EPCOT that may have taken a lot longer to evacuate than usual due to social distancing. Cast Members wanted to ensure that Guests were taken off of the ride safely, but also while keeping a safe social distance from other parties, which is why this process took longer than usual.

Now that Walt Disney World has announced they will be relaxing the social distancing protocols in a phased approach, this might speed up the process for evacuating Guests off Disney World attractions.

Over in Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, expect to see a different approach and keep in mind to be patient as the theme parks are still operating under six feet of social distancing.

In times of emergency and evacuation, it’s good to keep a positive mindset. We do know that missing out on an attraction can be frustrating, but Cast Members are doing the best that they can to keep the magic alive while the issue is being quickly fixed.

For Helana and her sister, it was a memory she will never forget and rates her experience top-notch. To think, most Guests might not ever experience this in their lifetime!
