Oftentimes, Cast Members could discuss the magical moments they have created for Guests, but some stories might seem a little more intense and a lot less magical than others. On Reddit, there is an ongoing thread that discusses the most bizarre things Cast Members have ever seen at both Disneyland and Disney World, and some of the stories being told are not what the average Disney Guest can expect to see on a day at Disneyland or Disney World.
Disneyland: 1997: Toontown Head Room: A family attacked a Pluto. Pushed her into the fountain. I didn’t actually see the attack, just got to deal with the aftermath backstage. I got to dry all of pluto’s costume and clean the head. Later Pluto told me the family was mad that she had to take her break after they had waited to get a picture. I think pluto either broke her arm or her leg. I can’t remember. The family was arrested.

The story told by this Cast Member is quite shocking for many reasons! Although the Cast Member was not there to see Pluto get pushed in the fountain, it seems obvious that Pluto was pretty wet from the description of having to dry off his entire body. Unfortunately, it seems that Pluto was hurt from an incident, which is why Guests must always be careful around characters.
Please note that this story is based on one Reddit user’s recantation of what happened many years ago!
Characters who are costumed often have a tough time seeing around them, which is why character attendants and Guests must always ensure they are looking out for the character. If you are having a meet and greet with a character, be sure to never push them or show any violence or else repercussions will be taken. It seems from this post that the family, or perhaps the pusher was reportedly arrested.
We got to see a variety of Characters at Disneyland when the park reopened and it truly enhanced the magic at the parks! We love the Disney characters and while this story was a little crazy, it is a good reminder for everyone to be respectful of the rules so that all Guests and Cast Members can remain safe when visiting a Disney theme park.
