Disneyland announced on May 21 that it will be ending its mandatory temperature screenings for Cast Members and Guests beginning June 15, the same day that the state of California is scheduled to completely reopen its economy. Temperature checks are currently mandatory for Guests visiting Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney.
Disneyland Resort shared the following update on its website:
Since reopening, we have considered guidance from public health authorities, government agencies, and our own team of health and safety experts as we assess and update health and safety measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Based on the advice of the CDC and our local health officials, and given Orange County is now in the Yellow Tier and the State of California is preparing to reopen the economy on June 15—the Disneyland Resort will end onsite temperature screenings for Guests and Cast Members starting June 15, 2021.
We will continue to monitor the guidance of public health authorities and government agencies going forward and will make appropriate adjustments in the future based on that guidance.
This will be the first step in returning the theme parks to the “normal” that Guests used to know. As of this writing, the theme park will still require Guests to wear masks, except while actively eating or drinking, while on Disneyland Resort property. There is no current end date to Disney’s mask mandate.
Today it was reported that California has met the metrics under Governor Gavin Newsom’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy that will allow to state to lift all pandemic-era restrictions and let businesses fully open. That means that all theme parks in the state — including Disneyland — will be able to operate at full capacity beginning June 15.
As of this writing, the Disneyland Resort is still only open to California residents. Even though all travel restrictions for both in-state and out-of-state Guests are scheduled to be lifted on June 15, Disneyland Resort officials have not announced that they will be allowing out-of-state visitors into the theme park at that time. Guests visiting Disneyland may be required to show proof of residency before entering Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park.
