Last year, Walt Disney World made several changes to its operations due to the pandemic, including no longer selling Disney World Annual Passes to Guests. If you were already an Annual Passholder, you were able to renew your pass if it expired. However, renewals were on a case-by-case basis.
Now, it looks as though Walt Disney World may have made the decision to resume the sale of Annual Passes via the Europe website. But can you actually purchase, or was this a mistake?
Upon first glance, it seemed as though the U.K. Disney World website was selling Annual Passes again. However, we have now realized that it is not the U.K. Disney Holidays website but instead the European Disney World website where fans are able to add APs to their carts online. (See the screenshot below).
Since this article’s original publication, Walt Disney World reached out to Inside the Magic to clarify that this web page is actually out-of-date and they are currently working on updating it. Sales of new annual passes remain temporarily paused as part of Disney’s overall efforts to manage capacity with a focus on health and safety. With reduced attendance limits, Disney is continuing to focus on existing Passholders for the time being.
We originally reported that the Europe Disney World website lists Annual Passes for sale and Guests can add these to their carts, however, there have been several reports that even though they can be added to the cart, the website will not let you check out. And as we previously mentioned, Disney World has since reached out to Inside the Magic confirming that this webpage is out of date and sales of new Annual Passes remain temporarily paused.
Therefore, even though the official Disney World EU website lists a Disney Platinum Pass for sale, which includes admission to all theme parks, Park Hopping, PhotoPass, select dining and merchandise discounts, and theme park parking, the Annual Passes are not currently for sale.
At this time, there is no word on when the United States will resume the sale of Annual Passes. The Annual Pass webpage on the United States website automatically redirects to the Experience Updates webpage, which then links to this webpage on Annual Pass information. Inside the Magic will update you as we get information.
Keep in mind, if you plan to visit a Disney World theme park — including Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom — you will need to have both a valid ticket as well as a Park Pass reservation for the park you wish to visit on that day. For more information on the Park Pass system, visit our website here.
