If you want to travel the world but have a deep love of Disney vacations, EPCOT is likely the answer to that problem. All of the pavilions around the World Showcase give Guests a slight taste (figuratively and literally) of the country they are in, but not all pavilions are looking at well taken care of like the rest.

As the resident Canadian reporter at Inside the Magic, it felt fitting to take a look at the first pavilion on the right of the World Showcase at EPCOT and see how it has been holding up. The Canada pavilion is usually not in Guests’ top picks when it comes to their favorite pavilion or area of EPCOT — heck, it’s not even mine! But considering more pavilions such as France or Italy are more universally admired (and much busier), why isn’t the Canada pavilion as popular?

Disney fan and Guest castlecake2.0 posted on the WDWMagic forum recently to share a few photos of the Canada pavilion. Considering the visible damage and the apparent need for some refurbishment, it is no wonder the pavilion is not at the top of fans’ lists when it comes to the most desirable pavilions in the World Showcase.

In real life, Canada is a country that is beautiful for many reasons, but one in particular is its natural landscapes. In the Canada Pavilion at EPCOT, an aspect of this is recreated on the back of the chateau with the use of rocky waterfalls. Currently, that picturesque landscape is only running water on half of its rocks, with the others exposed and showing their very apparent grey and green discoloration.

If we take a look at what Disney World showcases on their website in terms of how the water should cascade down the rustic golden-brown stone, it looks a lot more lovely and grand in comparison to its current reality.

Below, we can also see that there are many simple fixes that have been left untouched for now. It seems that there have been many metal coverings that Disney has had to move around over the years, but left their previous drill holes open and uncovered. In the below photos, we can see that these areas of the walls are not as well-kept as they could be.

Since the Christmas season has come to a close, it looks like the decorations were only partially removed from this light post in the pavilion, along with the light that accompanies it. A broken light post on full display in a Disney Park is not something that is typically seen by Guests, considering the Disney theme parks often pride themselves on perfection and cleanliness. It is a little odd to know that you can’t purchase gum on Disney World property in fear of it ending up on the floor and that there are custodian Cast Member making sure garbage never touches the ground — but in the Canada pavilion, a broken light in front of the gift shop is still on display.

All of that being said, all EPCOT World Showcase pavilions are bound to undergo wear and tear over the years — unfortunately, the Canada pavilion’s has been looked over for a little longer than usual, but many Guests hope that some small improvements will take place soon.

The Canada Pavilion, however, is still home to lush and beautiful landscapes and greenery, Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360 starring Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara from the popular Canadian hit series Schitt’s Creek, and Le Cellier — regarded as one of the best steakhouses on Disney World property.

With a little bit of TLC, this Canadian is sure that the pavilion will be back in tip-top shape, eh!
