With Christmas right around the corner and festive cheer in full-swing, it’s the perfect time to celebrate one of our all-time favorite Christmas movies, Home Alone. This movie featuring Macaulay Culkin as young troublemaker — Kevin Mccallister, is one that has stood the test of time, bringing laughter and Christmas spirit to us all since 1990.
Luke Bradley-Jones — who oversees Disney+ in Europe, the Middle East and Africa — spoke with Variety on the film’s anniversary and other upcoming Disney+ projects saying,
“This film, along with a whole host of other festive favorites, Hollywood blockbusters and brand new originals are guaranteed to fill you all with festive cheer and we’re looking forward to Disney Plus being a firm favourite with everyone this Christmas.”

Home Alone Turns 30
Disney+ decided to celebrate the film’s 30th anniversary by commissioning an extravagant Home Alone gingerbread house just in time for the holidays — and it truly is a spectacle.
Designed and decorated by Michelle Wibowo — a British sugar craft artist and cake designer — this gingerbread house is nothing short of perfection. Not only does the gingerbread replica of the Mccallister home feature Kevin and the Wet bandits, but it also manages to incorporate some of the other notable details in the setting. Some of my favorites being The Little Nero’s pizza delivery truck and the Oh Kay plumbing van.

Recreating the Mccallister Family Home With Gingerbread
In an interview with Variety about constructing this festive gingerbread scene, cake artist Michelle Wibowo said,
“I jumped at the chance because it is one of my favorite Christmas movies — it doesn’t really feel like Christmas in our house until we have seen it at least twice. I had so much fun making it look festive and I loved making those cheeky characters Kevin and burglars Harry and Marv.”
The movie’s 30th-anniversary display will be featured in the Oak Centre for Children and Young People at The Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey.

Home Alone is now streaming on Disney+. If you aren’t yet signed up, you can get started here.
