EPCOT has basically been a construction zone for all of 2020, but now we are finally starting to see some progress!
EPCOT’s entryway has massively changed, with all the giant monoliths being removed, opening the entry to Spaceship Earth. One of the major updates that have been underway at the EPCOT entrance is the new fountain. Until now, we were not able to get a good look at the geometric masterpiece, but now we are able to catch a glimpse of what will greet us when we visit EPCOT.
Thanks to Imagineer Zach Riddley, we are able to see a varied about of photos that show a detailed look at the fountain, and clear sculptures that sit on it.
EPCOT’s classic geometry and materials – stone, acrylic, metal, water and shadow – continue to inspire our designers as we put the final touches on our main entrance plaza. #EPCOT #Imagineering #DesignDetails
From this, we can see that even the fountain’s base geometrically matches the shapes of Spaceship earth, and by maintaining that cool gray color scheme, everything seems to fit perfectly.
Now, although Zach has shared these designs, we are still not too sure when the fountain will be officially revealed. The new entry was set to be complete before the end of 2020 and considering we are only 2 weeks away from the end of the year, and the fountain is clearly ready. Hopefully, Guests will be able to get an up-close look at the new design in the next few days.
If there is something we know about Disney Imagineering — it’s that they move fast. Remember when the BoardWalk Resort pool signage said ‘Kiester’ as opposed to ‘Keister’? It took Imagineering just about 24 hours to rectify the problem and correct the sign as if the mistake never happened. That being said, if Disney is showcasing the fountain already, Guests should expect to soon see the fountain revealed.
