Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is going through some major changes right now. The Disney World Deluxe Resort, other than its Disney Vacation Club Villas and Bungalows, is closed to Guests until Summer 2021 for refurbishment and hotel room re-theming — “make way” for Moana!
Furthermore, due to the temporary closure, we recently reported that the Resort’s monorail would not be running for the time being. Originally, it was anticipated that monorail service to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort would be suspended immediately.
Now, however, Disney World’s official website confirms that monorail service between the Polynesian’s Great Ceremonial House (main building) and Magic Kingdom Park will remain available until November 2, 2020.
The transportation notice reads:
Bus transportation is available from this Disney Resort [Polynesian Village Resort] to EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the Disney Springs area; bus transportation will be available to Magic Kingdom beginning November 2, 2020.
Monorail transportation is available between the Great Ceremonial House and Magic Kingdom park until November 2, 2020 — see details below; the walkway to the Transportation and Ticket Center will remain open, where Guests may access the monorail and ferry boats to Magic Kingdom park.
Monorail transportation is not available for EPCOT.
If you have plans to visit Walt Disney World Resort and use transportation from the Polynesian in the near future, make sure you are aware of all of these changes.
Disney’s official statement regarding the Polynesian Village Resort renovation and extended closure reads:
“This schedule adjustment also allows us to complete some refurbishment work at the Resort hotel, including enhancements to the Great Ceremonial House and Guest rooms. We expect work to begin in early October and look forward to sharing more about these changes in the future. The Villas and Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will remain open during this refurbishment.”
