After the smash hit series The Manadalorian premiered on Disney+ last year, fans have been waiting for more. The thought of blasting into a galaxy far far away and getting the chance to reunite with Baby Yoda has me, personally, very excited, and now we know who is directing all 8 episodes.

Mandalorian Season 2 trailer

The Mandalorian Season 2 will debut on October 30th, and we have slowly been receiving more information in anticipation of its release. With the direction in the first season being as good as it was, it is exciting that we now have a full list of all 7 directors for the second season.

Who are the directors?

As I mentioned, season 2 of The Mandalorian has 7 directors for 8 episodes. This means one director is doing double duty and will be directing 2 episodes, but we do not know who that will be. But thanks to Comicbook.com we can look at the list today!

The directors are (in no particular order)

  • Jon Favreau
  • Dave Filoni
  • Bryce Dallas Howard
  • Rick Famuyiwa
  • Carl Weathers
  • Peyton Reed
  • Robert Rodriguez

Comicbook.com shared:

“Filoni, Howard, and Famuyima all directed episodes of the first season, while Weathers starred in some of those instalments. Favreau is the creator of the series, though was only a producer of the first season, with the filmmaker now directing. Reed and Rodriguez are the newcomers, though Reed has previously been involved with Disney as the director of the two Ant-Man films.”

We can see that even those who are ‘new comers’ have had their hand in the Disney pot already through Marvel so the leap to this Star Wars franchise makes sense.

Fans may be sad to realize a name that is not on the list — Taika Waititi.

Taika directed the season one finale of The Mandalorian that had fans begging for more, so it is unfortunate he is not back for season 2. However, Taika is slated to direct a live-action film in the franchise in the future so at least we have that!
