As construction at EPCOT continues, a new permit was filed that gives us an idea of what’s to come!

EPCOT Under Construction

We have been covering the news that EPCOT will undergo major refurbishments and construction since it was first announced at the D23 Exp in 2019. However, due to the coronavirus, it is unclear what projects from that original announcement will come to fruition. Both the much anticipated Mary Poppins attraction and the Spaceship Earth refurbishments have been indefinitely postponed. However, today a new permit has been filed between Walt Disney Imagineering and Orange County that show new hope for EPCOT.

You can view the permit here.

Project G

Earlier this week we reported that Disney filed a permit for construction on 1400 Avenue of the Stars #B, and today’s permit is for 1400 Avenue of the Stars #A. The general description on both of these permits is “Project G”. “Project G” or “Project Gamma” refers to the overhaul of renovations that are being done to the entrance area and around Spaceship Earth.

The addresses on the permit put the construction work at the Innoventions buildings and surrounding areas we cannot pinpoint exactly where the work will be, but it is being speculated online that these permits are for the Electric Umbrella’s replacement. We cannot say for sure, but we are excited to see that construction work continues at EPCOT and look forward to seeing all of the new changes in the future.

Coming Soon to EPCOT

As we wait to see all of the new EPCOT offerings, here are some of the completed construction projects and attractions that are coming soon.
