A new petition on Change.org is calling upon Disney to change the name of the Carnation Cafe so that it honors former chef Oscar Martinez.

Nearly three years ago, Chef Oscar Martinez retired after working at Disneyland Resort for 60 years. The Disney Cast Member was always a smiling face at Carnation Cafe, a Guest-favorite restaurant located on Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland park. Since 1967, he greeted Guests with a smile, cooking up delicious dishes at the original Disney Park.

Now, fans are petitioning for Disney to change the name of Carnation Cafe so that it honors Chef Oscar and his legacy. Called “Change the name of Carnation Cafe in Disneyland, to honour Oscar!” the petition asks Disney to change the name of the Main Street restaurant to “Oscar’s Carnation Cafe” instead.

Below is the official description of the petition, created by Bryan Grahn:

This change is simple. Honour Oscar Martinez for his lifetime of service and smiles at Disneyland by changing the name of the Carnation Cafe on Main Street –> to “Oscar’s Carnation Cafe”.

Up until his retirement a couple of years ago, Oscar was Disneyland’s longest tenured employee – at 60 years of service. With no formal cooking experience, Martinez started his career as a busboy at Disneyland’s Fantasy 1 restaurant in 1956, the year after the Anaheim park opened. He was one of Walt Disney’s first employees and was one of the reasons our family keeps coming back.

If you ever had the pleasure of meeting Oscar and seeing the joy he shares with everyone who visits, then no further explanation is needed. Disneyland should continue to share that joy…

The news of the petition was also shared to Instagram by Stacie Grahn, the wife of the petition’s creator.

Dine on classic American comfort food, including some of Walt’s favorite dishes, at this Main Street, U.S.A. institution.

A Legendary Locale
Relax under a candy-striped umbrella and watch the world pass by—or unwind inside the Victorian-style dining room as waiters in vintage dress bustle past. The Carnation Café takes you on a trip to the turn-of-the-century with a nostalgic menu of delicious delights for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Fried pickles anyone?

Good Old-Fashioned Grub
Begin your day right with some of the chef’s specialties: eggs Benedict, Mickey-shaped waffles, spinach and tomato egg white frittata or the all-American breakfast featuring 2 eggs any style, potatoes, toast and your choice of sausage links or hickory-smoked bacon. It’s the perfect way to kick off the day!

For lunch or dinner, tuck into loaded baked potato soup and a helping of delicious Parmesan-and-panko-coated fried pickles. Honor Walt’s memory and try one of his favorites: homemade meatloaf or chicken-fried chicken.

On the lighter side there’s spinach salad with grilled chicken, sustainable catch of the day and the chef’s vegan burger. Before you leave, don’t miss the delectable selection of house-made desserts!
