A virtual queue — called a virtual waitlist at the Disney Parks, when it comes to retail locations — is currently in use for the Splash Mountain gift shop at the attraction’s exit.
The high demand for Splash Mountain merchandise at this time is credited to the fact that the attraction will be soon be rethemed to The Princess and the Frog. However, Disney has not yet shared when the attraction will close for reimagining, nor has Disney stated if and when Splash Mountain merchandise will be restocked after it sells out in person at the parks or online on shopDisney.
On the morning of the first Annual Passholder preview day, Guests were told that they would have to join a virtual queue via text message in order to have the opportunity to shop for Splash Mountain merchandise at the gift shop located at the attraction’s exit.
In order to join the virtual waitlist, Guests have to wait in line (social distancing, of course) to speak with a Cast Member near the front of the store. Then, the Cast Member will sign each party up. Guests will receive a text message confirming their place in line, and they will receive another text message once it is their turn to enter the store.
We joined the virtual queue at just past 9:45 a.m. this morning. Around four hours later, we were able to get into the store.
Keep in mind that at this time, the Briar Patch is closed. The shop was reportedly very busy on the first day of Cast Member previews on Tuesday, July 7. At this time we are unsure of when that shop will be open.
