With Disney Parks and Resorts reopening all around the world, giving fans the ability to visit again, many are wondering how to feel safe when spending time on Disney Property amid the current pandemic. Here are our tips for staying safe and abiding by health precautions, whether you’re taking a Disney World vacation in Florida or you’re just visiting Downtown Disney in California for the day.
Masks are required on all Disney properties at the moment. Currently, all the Disney Parks and Resorts worldwide require Guests to wear face masks, although just as face masks are part of the guidelines in place, the type of face mask you wear is also important.

For example, Disney World (which has moved forward with the reopening of all four theme parks) and Downtown Disney (which is the first area of Disneyland Resort to reopen) both require Guests to wear certain types of face coverings, and these masks must be worn at all times except when Guests are eating or drinking, or when Guests are in an area where face mask removal is allowed (such as a relaxation zone in Magic Kingdom).
For Disney World and Disneyland, we have published the official guidelines for wearing face coverings. You can click the links below for more information.
We have found that because these hand washing and hand sanitizing stations are nearly always within view, Guests are washing their hands much more frequently. For us, we often use hand sanitizer nearly every time we see it, simply because it’s there and it’s such an easy practice to implement in our daily Disney routines.

Speak with Cast Members if You Have Questions
Have any questions or feel concerned while visiting? Just speak with a Cast Member! No matter the time of year or what may be going on in the world when you visit, Disney Cast Members are always there to help you. If you have a question while you’re meandering Disney property, find the nearest Cast Member and ask.

Cast Members can be a great sense of comfort and reassurance if you ever feel unsure while you are visiting Disney. Recently, whenever we have had any questions, we have found the Incredi-Crew Cast Members at the Disney World theme parks and the Guest Relations Cast Members at Downtown Disney so helpful. They truly are there to make sure Guests are abiding by all health and safety precautions and can help make sure you feel comfortable doing so.

Take Frequent Breaks and Step Away
Just like it was when visiting Disney property before the pandemic spread, it is important to take breaks and step away as needed. With limited Guests allowed in all areas of Disney property currently, there are more opportunities to find areas where you can take a break and step away to be alone, or just around the people in your party.
If you are going on a vacation for multiple days at a time, making an effort to go back to your Disney Resort hotel room can help give you some reprieve and allow you to take time away from other people. Or if you are visiting Downtown Disney or Disney Springs for the day, allowing yourself the opportunity to find shaded areas away from others Can help you recharge, take a breather, and unwind before resuming your day of shopping. .
In our experience, taking a bit more time to walk around and find an emptier, quieter area of Disney property allows us the space to unwind and relax if we start to feel anxious being around other people throughout the day.
A Disney vacation is magical no matter when you go, even if you visit during the current pandemic. But it’s important to only visit Disney property if it feels right for you. Disney is implementing mandatory face coverings, temperature checks, social distancing, and limited capacity. But it’s up to Guests individually to abide by these guidelines. And it’s up to Guests to listen to their hearts and heads to make sure they are visiting if it feels right for them.

Downtown Disney gives fans the opportunity to get a taste of the Happiest Place on Earth, even though Disneyland and Disney California Adventure haven’t yet opened. The Most Magical Place on Earth (Walt Disney World Resort) has been welcoming Guests back to the theme parks for over a week. But Disney also wants Guests to feel safe and comfortable during any of their visits. Just be sure to do what feels right for you.
