The Anaheim Planning Commission has officially approved Disneyland’s proposal to build a Disney Vacation Club timeshare tower for the Disneyland Resort.
According to DVCnews.com, the commission voted 7-0 in favor of the addition which will be 12 stories high and will include 350 new units. It will also feature a new pool with a still-unnamed interactive water feature.
But Disney cannot break ground yet. After an already extensive process of meetings with city planners, virtual town halls with local residents, and traffic studies, the proposal now moves to the Anaheim City Council for final approval. No word yet on when that approval can be expected.
If approved, the new tower will be the second Disney Vacation Club addition to the Disneyland Resort. Currently, the only DVC presence at Disneyland is the Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa. The new timeshare tower will be positioned at the southwest end of the hotel’s property, nearest to the current Frontier Tower. It will also join the list of construction and refurbishment projects planned for the Disneyland Resort. This includes the Marvel-themed land, Avengers Campus, which is set to open at Disney California Adventure.

We at Inside the Magic have been monitoring this story closely. Out of those 350 units, there will reportedly be 2 grand villas, 19 1-bedroom units, 20 2-bedroom units, 38 pod studios, and 253 deluxe studios. It will also feature a brand-new, Imagineer-designed pool with an interactive water feature that appears to squirt paint onto the pool floor in the shape of Mickey Mouse.
