Our team at ITM is always excited to see how artists take our favorite Disney characters and put on their own twist to them. We recently covered artists that reimagine Disney characters as The Avengers, modern day women, princesses and princes as parents, taking maternity pictures, even as cement mixers… And the list goes on.
This time, we bring to you Jeffrey Thomas’ work. Thomas is a character designer from California with over one hundred pieces of work on his Deviant Art page. If you scroll through his work, you will see that the great majority features some of the most popular Disney characters.
One of his collections is called Twisted Princess. The artwork collection features Disney princesses in a complete macabre view. The dark tones and incredible details make each piece unique, but still true to the original Disney stories. However, this dark twist to the beloved princesses, are definitely scarier than any Disney .
Here are some of the princesses in Thomas’ Twisted Princess collection:
Megara from Hercules
That looks like a fun party for the undead! Megara and Hercules definitely look like zombified versions of themselves, and they are up to no good as they will be cutting someone’s life short.
Cinderella
This one will certainly creep those that think scarecrows are terrifying.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
This representation of Snow White makes the Evil Queen look like child’s game. And the dwarfs just like evil garden gnomes.
Alice from Alice in Wonderland
The details in this representation of Alice is amazing. The white rose painted red (but that might not be paint after all), the Mad Hatter’s hat, the rabbit’s pocket watch, all while Alice drinks a very suspicious Cheshire Cat tea.
Nala from The Lion King
Nala just looks like she got out of a very nasty fight. Definitely not the sweet loving lioness we know from the movie.
Mulan
The artist managed to make Mushu as the big protection dragon he wanted to be in the movie Mulan. The best detail in this image is the Cricket on Mulan’s solder. After all, you have to add a cricket just for luck, right?
Jane from Tarzan
Jane looks pretty strong besides the monstrous gorilla! And according to this artwork, she was the one to kill the jaguar.
Rapunzel from Tangled
She has people literally tangled in her hair! looks like she and Pascal have a little obsession with Flynn. Well, they seem to have a crazy amount of “Wanted” signs on the floor. Very …
should watch out…there is a new version of in town! You can take a look at more of Thomas’ work, here.
