We recently reported that Walt Disney World was not only canceling previously made dining reservations, but also that new dining reservations were not available to make through My Disney Experience or the Walt Disney World website. But now it looks as though Disney has made an update!

The Official Disney World Announcement

The official Walt Disney World website has updated their website and now reads:

Dining Reservations Not Available at Select Locations

At this time, dining reservations at theme parks and Disney Resort hotel locations are not available. Select dining locations at Disney Springs are currently accepting reservations. Learn more about dining reservations during the phased reopening of Walt Disney World Resort.

Our Attempt At Making Reservations

This morning Inside the Magic attempted to make a dining reservation and select availability did show up!

When we opened up the My Disney Experience app and selected the option to find an advanced dining reservation, a screen popped up that took us to the official Walt Disney World website.

From there, we went ahead and selected the random date of July 20 and searched for dining reservations available for dinner for a party of 2.

Previously, when trying this there were no dining restaurants available at all, even in Disney Springs regardless of Disney Springs reopening to the public on May 20. But now, Disney Dining is showing plenty of availability for a wide selection of restaurants only in Disney Springs.

As of now, the only restaurants showing are those in Disney Springs, just like the Walt Disney World website stated in their update, even though the theme parks will begin a phased reopening to select guests beginning on July 11 and July 15. We are not sure if dining reservations will become available at theme park restaurants or resort restaurants, but Inside the Magic will continue to update you as we get new information.

It is also important to note that we attempted making dining reservations as early as tomorrow, June 4 and there was availability at select restaurants located only in Disney Springs. These restaurants include House of Blues, Paradiso 37, T-REX, STK Orlando, Wine Bar George and other Disney Springs restaurants.

More Information On Walt Disney World Reopening

Upon reopening to the Walt Disney World Resort to the public, the company is implementing a new reservation system in order to manage capacity. Part of this reservation system includes Annual Passholder entry. At first, we weren’t sure how Disney would be managing guest capacity or their Annual Passholders, however, Disney has stated that due to this unprecedented time, an annual pass will not guarantee park entry.

We also know that when Disney World reopens to guests come mid-July, things at the theme park will look a lot different. Social distancing measures will be put in place, excessive cleanliness, encouragement of mobile orders, plexiglass, the elimination of character meet and greets, parades, fireworks and other similar entertainment that draws a crowd, and much more.

Walt Disney World Resort also recently shared an update on new ticket sales and hotel reservations, dining and experiences, and FastPass+ and Extra Magic Hours. You can read more about that here.

At this time, Disney Springs is opened to the public with select restaurants and retail stores welcoming guests.

Have you been able to make any new dining reservations now that select restaurants are showing availability? Let us know in the comments.
