Kronk’s Spinach Puffs

I’ve always been of the mindset that The Emperor’s New Groove is a completely underrated film and deserves more appreciation! As you may recall, one of the main characters Kronk is quite the cook and early in the film whips up a tasty appetizer of spinach puffs for his dinner guests.

Well, PopSugar just released a simple recipe for Kronk’s spinach puffs that look absolutely amazing. I know that I can’t wait to try them out for myself. Check out the recipe below.

Let’s Get Cooking!

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350°F.
  2. Add in the olive oil to a saucepan along with the full pack of fresh spinach. Sauté the spinach until it is somewhat wilted then remove it from heat and let it cool.
  3. In a medium-size mixing bowl, add in the parmesan, diced garlic cloves (or garlic granules), feta crumbles and the egg white.
  4. Mix in a pinch of salt and pepper for flavor!
  5. Put the cheese mixture in the fridge for about five to ten minutes to chill.
  6. While the cheese mixture is cooling, break up the pastry dough and press it into each of the holes of the greased muffin pan gently.
  7. Bake the dough for five minutes.
  8. While the pastry dough is baking, remove the cheese mixture from the fridge and stir in the cooled spinach that you set aside from earlier.
  9. Evenly spoon the new cheese and spinach mixture into the partially baked pastry dough cups. Make sure you’re adding about two tablespoons of mixture per cup.
  10. Bake the cups for 15 more minutes, remove the muffin tin from the oven to cool and you’re done!

This incredibly appetizing spinach pastry is the perfect appetizer for the whole family!
