Disney’s CEO Bob Chapek confirmed a few days ago that Shanghai Disneyland will be reopening to the public on May 11, 2020.
Now, Shanghai Disneyland will not be opening up back to normal — This will be a phased reopening with very specific health and safety protocols put into place.
The first major change we already knew about would be the capacity. The normal capacity for Shanghai Disneyland is 80,000 guests a day, however, the Chinese Government has requested Disney keep attendance down to 24,000 guests a day. But Disney is going a step further and decided they are going to open up far below that with gradually open up to 24,000 a day.

But now, we are getting a sneak peek at what exactly the theme park will look like once it does officially reopen to guests on May 11, 2020.
In this news report, you will see several different protocols being put into place including temperature screening tents, Cast Members wearing face masks, social distancing queue lines set up, and more. Let’s dive in a bit deeper and see what Shanghai Disneyland will look like once it reopens to the public.
Temperature Screening Tents
Along with the phased reopening, Shanghai Disneyland will be screening their guests prior to the entrance to the theme park. It looks as though Disney has technology put into place that allows them to read your body temperature just by simply walking through the tent.

Social Distancing Queues
There are pre-set blocks on the ground for guests to stand in while they wait to enter the park in the queue line. By setting these up it allows guests to know how far apart they must stand in the queues in order to continue practicing safe social distancing.
They also put up yellow markings inside queue lines at places such as quick-service restaurants within the theme park. By doing so, guests will know where exactly they should stand in order to practice social distancing while waiting in line for their turn to order.

Attractions and Ride Vehicles
As you can see in the above photos, there are yellow tape marks on ride vehicles for guests. By placing these tape markings, guests will know where to sit within the attraction in order to practice social distancing.
And in other types of attractions, Disney will be seating their guests in compliance with social distancing as well, except this time without markings. On attractions such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Disney will be filling every other row on the ride vehicle to maintain safe social distancing.

A twitter user also recently shared photos at what Disney character interactions will look like once the parks reopen.
Shanghai Disneyland is in close contact with government partners in order to continue delivering safe protocols and the right experiences for the guests. They will continue to bring in guests at limited capacity as well as fill attractions and ride vehicles at limited capacity to keep both guests and Cast Members safe. At this time, live indoor theaters will remain closed until further notice.
