No, it wasn’t a dream. Disney Springs reopened last week and Cast Members around the world could not be more excited, especially Josh D’Amaro. On hand to celebrate the phased reopening of Disney Springs on Wednesday, May 20, D’Amaro had a very special message to share in this week’s #DisneyCastLife video.
“As you can see, I’m here at Walt Disney World to celebrate the partial reopening of Disney Springs. Listen, I am thrilled to be able to welcome back some of our Cast Members to the resort, so that we can create that magic for our guests once again. It’s so good to have the Cast Members back. Along with the reopening of Shanghai Disneyland last week, this week’s reopening of Disney Springs marks a cautious, but really optimistic step in the phased reopening of our parks and resorts around the world. Our excellent leadership and world-class health and safety teams are prioritizing the health and well-being of you, our cast, and our guests at every step. We can’t wait to see you back real soon.”

But Josh D’Amaro was no longer speaking as the president of the Walt Disney World resort. He just recently received a promotion, becoming The Walt Disney Company’s next Chairman of Disney Parks, Resorts, Experiences, and Products. The position was previously held by Disney’s latest CEO, Bob Chapek.
The phased reopening of Disney Springs marks one last victory for D’Amaro as Walt Disney World’s President. His final days in the position were spend guiding the mega-resort through the closure and working to hold up the spirits of guests and Cast Members alike by sharing special messages on his Instagram from inside the parks throughout the closures. Now it is time to see what kind of leader he will be overseeing not just Disney World, but all of Disney Parks, Resorts, Experiences, and Products.
